Constant Craving @ The Joan – a wrap up

Hey Gang

It’s the day after our brand new show “Constant Craving – The Music of kd lang” spent the day at The Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre in Penrith. I’m still recovering!

We began the day with a 10am bump in and sound check. My very great thanks goes to all my talented and dedicated musicians – Greg Johns (and roadie Marie, drums) Pete McDonaugh (percussion – he seriously brought a music shop worth of equipment AND played it all!) Alex Hudson (Piano and BVs), Kerri Lacey (2nd Keys and BVs), Ashley Turner (Double Bass and Electric Bass), Jake J Wilson (Pedal Steel Guitar and Electric Guitar), Ellie Moroney (Acoustic Guitar), and Michael Montgomery (Tony Bennet and Elton John – long story) – for being there so early and being so organised.

I’d also like to thank the team at The Joan for wrangling that many musos and all their gear!

With that done we had a quick rest and then a 2pm matinee. I was really nervous as this was only the 2nd time we had ever done the show. It was nice to see a few familiar faces in the crowd. Despite a few technical issues, the audience were very receptive, considering the first part of the show is really a piece of poetry, and they really gave us their love at the end.

Setting up sound check….I look pensive

I still look pensive
Am I even there now?
ah….there I am

At 7.30 pm we did it all again and we were very lucky to have even more friends in the audience who had come to support us and hear this beautiful music.

Let me tell you, by the end I was a little tired!! Hehe

Somehow my guitarist managed to snatch a little video during the show (I will have to talk to him about that!) and it will just give you a sneak peak of our show.

a little taste test

I am extremely proud of this show. It has been a dream that I set out to create. I am extremely excited to see it develop and become everything it can be.

I hope you can see it one day soon

Cheers

Lisa
